Saugerties, New York (December 30, 2014): HITS, Inc., home of the Triple Crown of Show Jumping, is pleased to announce UlcerGard® (omeprazole), a Merial product, as the title sponsor of the $100,000 UlcerGard Grand Prix to be held during Week VI of HITS Saugerties at HITS-on-the-Hudson in Saugerties, New York. Passionate about horse health, Merial understands the effort, dedication and commitment it takes to be successful in the show ring.
“We are very excited to partner with HITS and engage with the many riders and horses participating in their shows,” said Merial’s Senior Equine Manager Rebecca Peskin. “Many of us on the Merial equine team also compete in various disciplines and we know what kind of dedication it takes to compete at this level.”
A well-rounded knowledge of equine stomach ulcers is important for anyone who works with and shows horses because two-out-of-three non-racing competitive horses suffer from ulcers. These ulcers can ultimately result in recurrent colic and less than optimal performance, amongst other effects. Equine enthusiasts can keep their horses from becoming a statistic with UlcerGard, one of the only proven and FDA-approved products for equine stomach ulcers.
“These equine athletes are performing at one of the most difficult levels of competition and we know their owners and trainers want the best in health care for them. We look forward to helping all HITS competitors make sure their horses have the stomachs to win,” Peskin continued.
“It’s an honor to partner with UlcerGard by Merial, a company as passionate about the equine world as we are,” said HITS President and CEO Thomas Struzzieri. “Horse health is a top priority at all HITS shows and through this partnership, we can continue to lead the industry in education and awareness.”
Beginning January 2015, UlcerGard will have a presence at HITS Shows across the country including HITS Desert Circuit in Thermal, California and HITS Ocala Winter Circuit in Ocala, Florida.
