USHJA Equitation Championships - Zone 10

National Sunshine II, November 9-13

ELIGIBILITY - Open to Riders who have won a First or Second place ribbon in an Open Equitation Class at a PCHA show in 2016, who have won a PCHA or National Medal class in 2016, or who have ever won a PCHA or National Medal Final.

SPECIFICATIONS - To consist of Three phases, held over Two days. Phase 1 and 2 to be held the first day; Phase 3 to be held the second day. To be judged under the Open Numerical Scoring System. Additional testing of the top 4 riders overall at judge’s discretion.

  • Phase 1: Over Fences Score to count 25% Day One
  • Phase 2: Flat Score to count 25% Day One
  • Phase 3: Over Fences Score to count 50% Day Two

Phase 1: To be shown over a Hunter-type course of 8-10 fences the required height.

Phase 2: To be shown at a Walk, Trot, and Canter both directions of the ring. Optional tests include: Halt; Sitting Trot; demonstrate a Lengthening of Stride at the trot and/or canter. Riders in the 15-17 age group may be asked to Counter Canter - no more than 12 to Counter Canter at the same.

Phase 3: To be shown over a Medal-type course of 8-10 fences the required height. To include a double combination and at least two of the following: rollback, broken line, long approach to a single fence, end jump or narrow jump.

SCORING - Scores will be added, according to percentages above, to determine the winners. In the case of a tie for First Place, there will be a work-off to determine the winner. In the case of a tie for any other place, the score from Phase 3 shall break the tie.

RESTRICTIONS - Horses and Riders may compete in any other class for which they are eligible. The same horse must be used in all phases. In the case of illness or injury to the horse, the rider may petition to ride a substitute horse subject to approval by the Show Committee. Entry fee is not refundable after the start of Phase 1 of each Championship.

TACK & EQUIPMENT - Conventional Tack per EQ105.5.

ORDER-OF-GO - The Order of Go for Phase 1 will be drawn. The order for Phase 3 will be reverse order of scores from Phase 1 and 2.

AWARDS - Trophy and Ribbons 1-8 in for each Phase and Overall.
