Week III of the 2022 HITS Ocala Winter Circuit has Wrapped!

Jenni McAllister, Aaron Vale & Hunter Holloway shine brightest
Three weeks of the 2022 HITS Ocala Winter Circuit are now complete! The Ocala Premiere featured the first of seven weeks of FEI CSI2* competition, along with special classes for Jumpers and Hunters at the National level. Read on for the winners of Week III's featured competition.

Wednesday played host to the first featured Jumper class of the week, the $2,500 Open Welcome. Riders were on their game to begin the week, with five advancing through the first round to the jump-off. Aaron Vale bookended the runs through the short course and saved his best for last, guiding CONDARCO to the fastest clean time of 33.381.

  • 2nd Place: Hunter Holloway & LIEMBA [34.096]
  • 3rd Place: Vale & BALOU'S CAPTAIN [35.776]
The $5,000 HITS Open Prix was held on Thursday. Tracy Magness and CHOPIN DU CHATEAU HOLLOGNE Z were best able to navigate the challenging course, crossing the timers in the jump-off round in 37.295 with four jumping faults.

  • 2nd Place: Hayley Waters & CALVADOS [4-faults, 39.200]
  • 3rd Place: Lisa Goldman-Smolen & BENGTSSON [4-faults, 76.048]
FEI competition began on Thursday with the $25,000 SmartPak Open Welcome. Five riders completed the first round cleanly to advance to the second round. Jenni McAllister was the first to attempt the short course, and she and ESCADA VS posted a fast, clean time of 31.513. Aaron Vale and Francois Lamontagne each found trouble on the sixth jump of the short course, and while clean, Hunter Holloway and Dorothy Douglas just couldn't match McAllister's quick time, securing her the first FEI win of the Circuit.
  • 2nd Place: Holloway & DARKNIGHT DE MALUGA [32.885]
  • 3rd Place: Douglas & MTM CEDRIK [34.225]
The course for Saturday's $5,000 Post Time Classic tested riders, and though none could navigate it cleanly, Hayden Frost and PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS were able to cross the timers in 75.396 with only four jumping faults.

  • 2nd Place:  Tracy Magness & CHOPIN DU CHATEAU HOLLOGNE Z [4-faults, 77.045]
  • 3rd Place:  Aaron Vale & KRUG Z [4-faults, 77.316]
Saturday's $50,000 FEI Grand Prix concluded the week's FEI competition. Aaron Vale advanced to the jump-off round early, and for a while it looked like he would have no competition. However, with the final three attempts at the first round, Dorothy Douglas and Carly Campbell-Cooper, as well as a second ride for Vale, joined the second round. Vale's first attempt at the short course, with I ADERMIE R4 for Lori Osterstock, was clean and fast, setting the Great American Time to Beat at 43.653. Douglas made the next run, which came up just short. Campbell-Cooper's attempt was ended with a downed rail on the third jump, which only left the question of which horse Vale would take to the winner's circle. Vale's second ride couldn't quite match his first, giving the win to he and I ADERMIE R4.

  • 2nd Place:  Douglas & MTM CEDRIK [44.035]
  • 3rd Place:  Vale & OBI WAN [44.323]
Sunday's $50,000 HITS Grand Prix was one for the ladies. Only Hunter Holloway and Dorothy Douglas were able to advance from Jaime Morillo's first round course to the jump-off. While Morillo would've preferred to see a couple more riders join them, Holloway and Douglas gave the short course their best. Undeterred by a dropped shoe on her other mount that prevented her from making a second attempt at the first round, Holloway rode PEPITA CON SPITA to a clean round completed in 43.412. A dropped rail on the first jump thwarted Douglas' try, securing the win for Holloway and her team.

  • 2nd Place:  Douglas & MTM CEDRIK [4-faults, 46.028]
  • 3rd Place:  Rowan Willis & CONLANDO 55 [4-faults, 72.253]
