A special attraction this year in Saugerties is the Saugerties Area Chamber of Commerce-sponsored "Hors'n Around Saugerties" event, which features 46 fiberglass carousel horses in a community wide public art event. Each horse is decorated by an artist in themes reflecting the Hudson-Fulton-Champlain Quadricentennial, and they are on display around the town from May through September.

A great chance to explore downtown Saugerties and get to know the merchants and restaurants of our village. Stores on Partition Street and Main Street south of Partition will stay open throughout the evening for a night of family fun! Events already planned include a live broadcast by The Wolf 94.3,and an Equine Art Exhibition at the Muddy Cup Coffee House and Bookstore. There also will be bands at the Dutch Ale House, Stella's and Main Street Family Restaurant. Lots more great activities in more than a dozen stores so wear your walking shoes and stroll the evening away.

The fashion show will feature fine equestrian apparel from the vendors at HITS Saugerties, as well as some trendy apparel from DIG. The Partition Street Wine Shop will also be on-site for a special wine tasting.

Making its debut on the special events calendar will be a 5k Run that will start at the HITS Bar & Grill. Grab your running shoes and get ready for a run to remember!

The Festival Consists of four competitions. featuring 600 horses competing in classes from Training Level, the first step on the ladder, to Grand Prix, the pinnacle of the sport as seen in the Olympic Games.

All of the cars will be placed on the grass that surrounds the show rings throughout the facility giving exhibitors a chance to vote on their favorite cars throughout the day while watching the horses jump in the show rings. Prizes will be awarded to the top cars based on votes from the crowd. The most popular car will take home the HITS Horse Power Trophy...

On Sunday, June 7 the special events schedule goes into full swing during Purina Mills Kids Day. The event is always one of the most popular events at HITS-on-the-Hudson. The popular local children's band Ratboy Jr . will be performing during the annual Purina Mills Kids Day. In addition to the musical performance, Kids Day will be filled with family fun and entertainment, including clowns, a slide, a bounce house, arts & crafts and loads of fun. New to the roster will be a special performance by the Hudson Valley's own Gym Stars Allstars Cheerleading team and an extra special Pony Pal Precision Riding contest presented by sponsor Pony Pals . The winner of the Pony Pal Precision Riding contest will win a brand new Pony Pal bike!
When Kids Day concludes, spectators are encouraged to watch some of the best competitors in the world compete for the top prize in the $125,000 Purina Mills Grand Prix. Some of the riders expected to compete in the featured class on Sunday, June 7 include two-time United States Gold Medal Winner McLain Ward, and fellow Olympians Nona Garson, Leslie Howard, Chris Kappler and Margie Engle. After the Grand Prix, kids will have a chance to meet the riders up close and personal during a special Grand Prix rider autograph and photo session
