A week full of HITS Championship & Wild Card Qualifiers,
USHJA Zone Hunter Championships and More!
The HITS Saugerties Fall Series is off to a great start with featured competition in the Wilmington Trust Grand Prix Stadium and the Main Hunter Stadium, as exhibitors from near and far joined us back in the Heart of the Hudson Valley. Week VII kicked off the fall series with FEI CSI2* competition, Wild Card qualifiers, and the USHJA Zone 1 & 2 Children’s and Adult Hunter Championships!
Featured National Open Jumper competition began Wednesday with the $5,000 Johnson Horse Transportation Open Welcome in the Wilmington Trust (Grand Prix) Stadium. Taking home the blue ribbon was Shawn Mack for his ride aboard FOR AMI in a time of 52.640.

2nd Place: Tara Corr & BOY BLUE (4-Faults, 54.150)
3rd Place: Lincoln Russell & LOTUS (4-Faults, 56.275)

In the $10,000 HITS Jumper Classic, Laura Chapot topped the field with a one-two finish. Her first place mount was OUT OF IRELAND in a time of 39.293.

2nd Place: Chapot & CALAFORNIA (39.909)
3rd Place: Kevin Mealiff & IDYLLE VAN DE EIKHOEVE (40.356)
Chapot continued her winning streak in the $10,000 Saugerties Steamboat Co. Jumper Classic aboard UMBERTO. It was a last minute change in the standings as Chapot was the last to make it to the jump-off, securing the win in 40.974.

2nd Place: Alex Matz & HHS HERCULES (42.051)
3rd Place: Chapot & LITTLE FIREBIRD (42.089)
Joining the Winner’s Circle to wrap-up the featured National Jumper competition with a win in the $25,000 HITS Grand Prix was Cassandra Kahle. Kahle and WALLSTREET took home top honors in a time of 45.116, claiming the lead by just tenths of a second.

2nd Place: David Raposa & MIC JAGGER 45.488
3rd Place: Declan Eagan & QUADRIVIO (4-Faults, 54.298)
Amy Shafmaster & BASJE took home top honors in the $2,500 Pyranha Jr/A-O/Am 1.20m Jumper Classic. 

Winning the $5,000 Summit Joint Performance Jr/A-O/Am 1.30m Jumper Classic was Aurora Rangel De Alba & CASINO N.

Taking home the blue ribbon in the $7,500 Jr/A-O/Am 1.45m Jumper Classic was Sophee Steckbeck & ALANIA.
 
FEI competition returned to the Wilmington Trust (Grand Prix) Stadium during HITS-on-Hudson VII with the $35,700 SmartPak Welcome FEI CSI2* on Friday afternoon. Winning the Welcome was Santiago Lambre for his ride aboard DOLORIS. As the first to return for the jump-off, their time of 42.59 held strong through the remainder of challengers, with each one that followed trying to take the lead away.

2nd Place: Todd Minikus & AMEX Z (42.81)
3rd Place: Beth Underhill & COUNT ME IN (44.04)
 
Lambre once again soared to the top of the standings, this time in the $50,000 HITS Grand Prix FEI CSI2* aboard DINGEMAN. As the last to return, Lambre didn’t take any chances as he raced through the timers in 48.33 to take the win.

2nd Place: Beezie Madden & GARANT (51.86)
3rd Place: Underhill & COUNT ME IN (55.54)
 
Not only did the last qualifiers for the Hunter Prix Finals at the HITS Championship take place, the USHJA Zone 1 & 2 Children’s and Adult Hunter Championships were a highlight of the week as well.

Kahle built on her success from the Grand Prix Stadium, earning several top titles at HITS VII. Following her win in the $25,000 HITS National Grand Prix, Kahle took home the blue ribbon in the $5,000 Devoucoux Hunter Prix aboard MONDAY BALOUS. Scores of 88 and 84 for a total of 172 secured top honors for this duo.

2nd Place: Dorothy Douglas & MTM EXCEPTIONAL (168)
3rd Place: Kahle & GIVENCHY (166.5)
 
Junior and Amateur riders had their last chance to qualify for the Platinum Performance Hunter Prix Finals at the HITS Championship. Taking home the victory in the $1,500 Platinum Performance Hunter Prix at HITS VII was Tess Lee for her ride aboard EEA TIMBERLAND. Lee scored an 84 in the first round and followed that up with an 81 in the second round for and overall score of 165.

3rd Place: Katelyn Coveny & MTM FASHION (158)
 
USHJA Zone 1 & 2 Hunter Championships

Alongside the regularly scheduled competition were the USHJA Zone 1 & 2 Children’s and Adult Amateur Hunter Championships presented by SmartPak. Qualified riders joined us for individual and team competition, all in the hunt for the Champion title and gold medal.
Team Competition

The Championships kicked-off in the Wilmington Trust Grand Prix Stadium with the Team Competition Day. Four teams would go ‘hoof-to-hoof’ over three rounds of competition consisting of an under saddle phase and two hunter classic style over fence phases. In each phase, riders were given a numerical score by two panels of judges.

Taking home the gold medal in the Team competition was the Pink Team with a total of 1,122 points earned over the three phases. On the Pink team was Linda Corvari & SURFSIDE, Danielle Flavin & FUNTIME HS, Emily Weis & CELEBRATION, and Kaitlin Hofer & SF PETER PAN.

Silver Medalists: Taking the Silver Medal was the Lime Team with 1,066 total points. On the Lime Team was Corinne MacAulay & PILGRIM DE BLUE MERY, Madelyn Sano & MAHOGANY, and Missy Palmisciano & ARCONDO.

Bronze Medalists: The Bronze Medal was awarded to the White Team with a total of 988 points. On the White Team was Isabelle Mesiarik & AZURO, Kaitlyn Leahy & HUDSON AKA MY SCHOLARSHIP, and Sherrill Woessner & THE ARTFUL DODGER.
Individual Competition
The Zone Championships continued Sunday in the Main Hunter Stadium with Individual Competition, comprised of an under saddle, hunter derby round, and handy hunter round, with high options for the chance to earn bonus points. Riders earned numerical scores by two panels of judegs in each phase of competition.

The Champion title and Gold medal was awarded to Corvari and SURFSIDE earning 421 points. Corvari scored a 79 in the under saddle, a 170 in the hunter derby round, and a 172 in the handy hunter round.

Silver Medalist: Laurie Barna & HUNDRED ACRE (400)
Bronze Medalist: MacAulay & PILGRIM BE BLUE MERY (383)

Are you ready for the HITS Championship? Don't forget that you must submit a Championship entry along with the standard entry blank for any of the Finals! The HITS Championship (this week!) features the Saugerties $500,000 Grand Prix FEI CSI5* and four more high-stakes Finals, making the HITS Championship one of the richest weeks in show jumping.

Remember, riders don't need to qualify for the Black Barn $100,000 Jr/A-O/Am Jumper Prix this year, and there's still time to nominate your horse for the Stal Hendrix Green Hunter Futurity.

Nominations for the Stal Hendrix Green Hunter Futurity can still be submitted! Applications can be picked up in the horse show office! The Futurity pays out $25,000 PLUS all of the nomination fees at the Championship.
