Hunters Bring Their A-Game at HITS-on-the-Hudson IV

Saugerties, NY (July 25, 2016): Thirty nine riders and horses took to the outside course to compete for the blue in the $5,000 Devoucoux Hunter Prix and the $1,500 Platinum Performance Hunter Prix this week at HITS-on-the-Hudson. The classes marked the fourth week of New York’s qualifying opportunities for the $500,000 Diamond Mills Hunter Prix and $250,000 Platinum Performance Hunter Prix.

$5,000 Devoucoux Hunter Prix
McKayla Langmeier of East Granby, Connecticut, brought home the win aboard Czar-Z, owned by Linda Langmeier. Langmeier and Czar-Z also captured a Devoucoux title in Week III at HITS Saugerties. This week, they earned top-notch scores of 89 in the first round improving to 91 in the second for a winning total of 180.
 
Second-place went to Franklin, Massachusetts equestrian David Oliynyk and Generous, owned by Lori Gaudet — the pair also have several $5,000 Devoucoux Hunter Prix titles under their belt. They garnered a first-round score of 88, improving to an 89 in the second-round for a total of 177.
 
Saugerties local Heather Caristo-Williams was third in the ribbons with Sunset Hill, owned by Jaqueline Thorne. They earned an 87 in the first-round, followed by an 86 for a total of 173 for their efforts.
 
Osvaldo Ornia Pacher of Bedminster, New Jersey, brought home both fourth and fifth place. He earned fourth piloting Upcountry Capiche, owned by Sofia Antico with scores of  85 and 84 for a total of 169, and rounded out the top five with Upcountry Coco, also owned by Antico. Their scores of 83 and 85 came in just a point behind his own score with a total of 168.

$1,500 Platinum Performance Hunter Prix
Forty five turned out for the $1,500 Platinum Performance Hunter Prix to prove who had the ultimate in finesse and style. Zayna Rizvi of Greenwich, Connecticut, captured the blue ribbon aboard Forget Me Knot, owned by Alana Dwyer.

The victors scored an 83 in the first round, followed by an 80 in the second-round for a winning total of 163.

Coming in behind Rizvi was Abigail Lefkowitz of Scarsdale, New York for second place piloting Valmont. They earned a first-round score of 82 and a second-round score of 77, giving them a total of 159 for the red ribbon.

Third place was awarded to Norwalk, Connecticut equestrian Leigh Gallagher and Eternity. They earned a total of 157 — a result of their combined scores, 87 and 70, respectively.

Alexa Bayko of Salisbury, Massachusetts, garnered fourth place with Whisper, owned by Monica Hunt. Bayko and Whisper came in just behind Dotoli by one point, earning a 77 in the first round, improving to a 79, for a total of 156.
