David Wilbur and Adore Win Second-Annual Stal Hendrix Pre-Green Futurity at HITS Championship

Saugerties, NY (September 13, 2016): Pre-green horses had their time to shine during the 2016 HITS Championship in the Stal Hendrix Pre-Green Futurity. The class, which offered young hunters the spotlight during the richest weekend in show jumping, guaranteed a $25,000 purse plus all add-backs from nominated horses, for a total of over $45,000 in prize money. David Wilbur of Ocala, Florida, and Adore, owned by Stephanie Ray, would be the duo to leave the ring with the winning check in tow.

The three-day, four-round competition tested the young horses over fences and with handy-type elements. The top 25 moved on to round three after the first and second rounds on Thursday and Friday. The first two preliminary rounds established the order for the third round, but scores were wiped clean for the last day of competition on Saturday.

To ensure that young horses got experience in different settings throughout the Championship, the first round took place in the Hunter Stadium, second round on outside course, and the third and fourth in Hunter Stadium.

Wilbur and Adore led the pack after the third round with a score of 87, going into the final round with the top spot to contend with the final four. They earned an 86 in the final for a winning total of 173.

Cassandra Kahle of Langley, British Columbia, would go home with not one, but two spots in the top five with both second and third place. Kahle and Eermette, owned by Redfield Farm, were fifteenth to test the field of play and aim for the win. They rode to an impressive third-round score of 84.5, putting them in third place going into the final round. They improved their score to an 87 in the final, which added to her previous round score, gave her a total of 171.5 to move up to the ultimate second place prize.

Kahle's additional ribbon came aboard Nina, owned by Pirtle Company. They scored an 84 in the third round to go into the final in fourth place. They moved up the ranks with an 85.5 to count towards their ultimate total of 169.5 for the overall third place spot.

The top four rounded out with Hunter Holloway of Topeka, Kansas, and Trend Setter, owned by Two Point Equestrian, LLC. They earned an 85 in the third round to enter the final round in second. Kahle barely edged out Holloway’s final round score by a mere half of a point, settling them in fourth place with a final round score of 84 and a total of 169.
