HITS, Inc. and Pfizer Animal Health Feature
Five STRONGID® C 2X Grand Prix Events in 2009
Makers of Daily Dewormer Utilize Partnership to Promote Effective Parasite Control
New York, NY (January 13, 2009) – Pfizer Animal Health
announced they will continue to partner with HITS, Inc. in 2009 to
educate riders on the benefits of healthy deworming practices. Pfizer
Animal Health launched its sponsorship with HITS in 2008 with five
STRONGI D® C 2X Grand Prix’s in Thermal, CA,
Ocala, FL, Tucson, AZ, Culpeper, VA and Saugerties, NY. Both companies
anticipate exceptional talent, both in horses and riders, to
participate once again this year.
The 2009 HITS show season is action packed with intense competition,
fun exhibitor parties and special events – with the Grand
Prix’s and FEI World Cup qualifiers being a few of the most
anticipated. The first STRONGID C 2X Grand Prix series is the $50,000
FEI World Cup Qualifier class scheduled for Saturday, January 31 in
Thermal. The $75,000 Grand Prix in Ocala will ride on Sunday, February
22. On Sunday, March 1 the $25,000 event in Tucson will conclude Pfizer
Animal Health’s STRONGID C 2X Grand Prix’s before the start
of the summer series. A $40,000 event will take place in Culpeper on
July 12, with the final $50,000 STRONGID C 2X Grand Prix on Sunday,
July 19 in Saugerties.
“HITS, Inc. is proud to have the support of Pfizer Animal Health
once again this year,” said John Eickman of HITS, Inc.
“Pfizer’s positive, proactive approach toward equine health
care is an important message for the competitive riders that
participate in the HITS shows.”
2008 kicked off a great season with the first ever STRONGID C 2X
$50,000 Grand Prix in Thermal, on February 24. Mandy Porter and Summer
from Wild Turkey Farm in Encinitas, CA won the premiere event. The
winter season continued without a hitch. Michael Grinyer, riding
Alcatraz from Campbellville, ON, Canada won the STRONGID C 2X Grand
Prix in Ocala, FL, on March 9, while Janet Hischer and Vianmenco from
Scottsdale, AZ won in Tucson on March 16. The competition continued
without slowing down throughout the summer months. Neither rain nor
heat could stop these horse and rider combinations from shining. Tracy
Fenney riding S&L Willie from Flower Mound, Texas won the STRONGID
C 2X Grand Prix in Culpeper on July 13. Laura Chapot and Church Road
finished off the season winning the final STRONGID C 2X Grand Prix on
July 27 in Saugerties.
“2008 turned into a great first year partnering with HITS,”
said Kristin Ruff, equine marketing manager at Pfizer Animal
Health.”It was a pleasure working with HITS exhibitors and staff
to educate horse owners on effective parasite protection through daily
deworming. We are looking forward to the exciting events that 2009
brings, as well as the opportunity to expand our program with the HITS
audience.”
Owners who put their horses on STRONGID C 2X can quickly see an
improvement in their horse’s condition, as a result of the daily
parasite control. For best protection against parasites, Pfizer Animal
Health recommends treating horses with EQUIMAX® in the spring prior
to feeding STRONGID C 2X, followed by a second dose in the fall. Twice
yearly use of EQUIMAX helps fight against bot and tapeworm infections.
Horse owners should always consult a veterinarian before starting any
deworming program.
Internal parasites can steal nutrition, energy and good health from
horses, around the clock. Left unchecked, they can impair growth and
performance, affect reproduction and cause loss of condition or even
death.
Many horse owners believe they’re eliminating the problem by
deworming every two months, but that only removes the parasites that
are present at the time of treatment. When the dewormer clears the
horse’s system a few days after deworming, parasites can regain a
foothold.
