Saugerties,
New York
(April 10, 2008) – Spring cleaning has begun at the
HITS-on-the-Hudson facility in Saugerties, New York in preparation for
the special Open House event scheduled for May 3-5 and the 2008 HITS
Saugerties Spring and Summer Show Series, which kick off on Wednesday,
May 28.
Crews have started to work on clearing the Grand Prix and Grand Prix
Schooling rings as well as the Main Hunter ring to prepare for new
footing. HITS plans to have these feature rings prepped in time
for the Open House in May.
"The footing at our winter circuits in Ocala and Thermal was very
well received by exhibitors in both locations," said Tom Struzzieri
HITS President and CEO. "We plan to replicate that formula in
Saugerties and I expect the response to be just as positive."
New footing won't be the only face lift to the property; exhibitors will also enjoy new jumps from Olaf Petersen, similar to what was used
at HITS Ocala. In addition, HITS Ocala's course decorator, Flora
Baptiston, will bring her majestic decorating abilities to the rings at
HITS Saugerties, making the courses more elegant.
The HITS Saugerties Open House event runs from Saturday, May 3 until
Monday, May 5 from 8 am until 5 pm. Exhibitors are encouraged to stop
in at the facility in Saugerties for tours of the property. In
addition, there will be a special exhibitor party on Saturday night
with a country-style barbecue and a musical performance by legendary
southern rock band the Outlaws. Festivities will start at 6 pm with the barbecue and beverages, followed by the Outlaws at 7 pm.
For more information on the open house, please contact Danette Kadlic

The
HITS Saugerties series of horse shows runs from May to September. As
always, the schedule features more than 250 classes for riders of all
levels, including two Grand Prix events each week. On Thursday, the
$25,000 Ariat Grand Prix will take center stage and then on Sunday,
riders can take aim at the $50,000 Grand Prix, which will be sponsored
by EMO, Waldorf=Astoria Collection and Purina Mills during the spring
shows. Every Grand Prix at HITS Saugerties is a qualifier for the
$100,000 USGPL Invitational, which will take place on Sunday, September
28 at HITS Culpeper.
During the summer series of shows, HITS Saugerties will once again host
the USEF Junior Hunter National Championships for the East Coast, as
well as two new events, the $5,000 Pony Commotion Hunter Classic and
the $10,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby. Prize lists are available
online. Entries for the spring shows close on April 30, 2008.
Set amidst the beautiful and historic Catskill Mountains and the Hudson
River Valley, this circuit is produced at HITS' equestrian facility in Saugerites, New York,
which features an amphitheater containing the Grand Prix ring and a
Feature Hunter ring, 1,100 permanent stalls, and permanent buildings
housing offices, food concession, rest rooms and equestrian retail
shops.
