HITS and New World Home Cooking Co. Host Second Annual Equine Art Gala

 
  Saugerties, New York (July 29, 2008) – On Thursday, July 24 New World Home Cooking Co. was the site of the Second Annual HITS Saugerties Equine Art Gala and Exhibitor Mixer. More than 100 guests from the greater Saugerties area, as well as a strong contingent of HITS equestrians, enjoyed the eclectic cuisine of Chef Ric Orlando and music by Carlos Valdez and his Mambo Kikango band.

This year's roster of artists included a mix of both returning and new names from in and around the region. The exhibit included more than two dozen pieces by artists Gretchen Almy, Mary Bridgman, Jean Campbell, Maria D'Angelo, Phyllis Frazier, Jean Haines, Juliet Harrison, Lenny Marks, Deborah O'Sullivan, Karin Ruoff, JoAnne Sullam, Kristen Vetterl and Barbara Widmann.

The artists' work will continue to be on display at the HITS-on-the-Hudson show grounds in Saugerties, New York through the next two weeks of shows in the Starbucks Cafe. Works by cover artist Phyllis Frazier and sculptures by JoAnne Sullam are on display at the HITS Souvenir Shop located near the Grand Prix ring.

Show jumping at HITS Saugerties continues this week and includes the $25,000 Ariat Grand Prix which will take center stage on Thursday, July 31. On Sunday, riders will take aim at the $50,000 Grand Prix presented by Smith Barney. Every Grand Prix at HITS Saugerties is a qualifier for the  $100,000 USGPL Invitational, which will take place at HITS Culpeper on Sunday, September 28. For hunters, HITS Saugerties is the place to be this summer, as the USEF Junior Hunter National Championship for the East Coast will return on August 5 and 6, while HITS will host the $10,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby and its all-new $5,000 Pony Commotion on Thursday, August 7 during Week VI.

HITS, Inc. is a special events management company primarily focused on producing hunter/jumper horse shows.
