Looking Good! HITS Fashion Show highlights special events for the HITS Saugerties series of horse shows

SAUGERTIES, NEW YORK
(April 10, 2008)--When the HITS Saugerties Spring Show Series returns to the Hudson Valley in late May, exhibitors won't have to go far to find some out-of-ring fun and relaxation as HITS is planning a variety of special events with a little something for everyone.

An exhibitor welcome reception kicks off the special events calendar during HITS-on-the-Hudson I (May 28-June 1). Exhibitors who make HITS Saugerties their destination will be treated to a party at local hot spot Stella's Station on Thursday, May 29 from 6 to 8 pm. The party will include great food, drink specials and a DJ.

Also during HITS-on-the-Hudson I, exhibitors will be treated to a very relaxing spa day on Saturday, May 31 from 12 to 2 pm thanks to the chic River Rock Health Spa. The talented therapists from the spa will be offering free chair massages to all exhibitors who need a little rest and relaxation before finishing their show day.

Highlighting HITS-on-the-Hudson I will be the second-annual HITS Saugerties Fashion Show, presented by DIG. The fashion show also takes place on Saturday and will feature fine equestrian apparel from the vendors at HITS Saugerties, as well as some trendy apparel from DIG, Woodstock Trading Post and Woodstock Design. Food for the fashion show is being provided by exhibitor favorite New World Home Cooking Co. and chef Ric Orlando. The new Partition Street Wine Shop will also be on-site for a special wine tasting.

"We look forward to the horse show every year," said Van Bolle, co-owner of Dig. "This is our second year doing the fashion show and its our pleasure to bring some of our most popular fashions out to the show grounds to be on display."

During HITS-on-the-Hudson II (June 4-June 8), exhibitors will have a chance to work on their golf game without going to the course during a special lunchtime Putting Contest courtesy of The Lazy Swan, Saugerties' new luxury golf course. The contest will take place on Saturday, June 7 and Sunday, June 8 from 12 to 2 pm.

On Friday, June 13, during HITS-on-the-Hudson III (June 11-June15), the show grounds will go to the dogs when the popular Canine Affair, presented by Purina Mills returns to HITS Saugerties. The dog costume party and exhibitor mixer will take place from 6 pm to 8 pm and will include free food, a cash bar and prizes for the best costumes. All breeds, ages and sizes are welcome.

For those who want to get to the business of showing and competition, the spring season at HITS Saugerties offers three consecutive weeks of shows starting May 28 - June 15. As always, the schedule features more than 250 classes for riders of all levels, including two Grand Prix events each week. On each Thursday, the $25,000 Ariat Grand Prix will take center stage and then on Sundays, riders can take aim at the $50,000 Grand Prix, which will be sponsored by EMO, Waldorf=Astoria Collection and Purina Mills during the spring shows. Every Grand Prix at HITS Saugerties is a qualifier for the $100,000 USGPL Invitational, which will take place on Sunday, September 28 at HITS Culpeper.

When the spring series of horse shows are complete, HITS Saugerties then takes a short hiatus before returning on July 23 for three more weeks of world-class show jumping. During the summer series of shows, HITS Saugerties will once again host the USEF Junior Hunter National Championships for the East Coast, as well as two new events, the $5,000 Pony Commotion Hunter Classic and the $10,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby. Prize lists are available online. Entries for the spring shows close on April 30, 2008.

The HITS Saugerties series of horse shows run from May to September. Set amidst the beautiful and historic Catskill Mountains and the Hudson River Valley, this circuit is produced at HITS' equestrian facility, in Saugerties, New York which features an amphitheater containing the Grand Prix ring and a Feature Hunter ring, 1,100 permanent stalls, and permanent buildings housing offices, food concession, rest rooms and equestrian retail shops.

HITS, Inc. is a special events management company primarily focused on producing hunter/jumper horse shows. Based in upstate New York in the village of Saugerties, HITS produced its first horse show circuit in Gainesville, Florida in 1982. Since that time, HITS has grown into a nationwide company with world-class hunter/jumper circuits in California, Florida, Arizona, New York and Virginia.
