Saugerties,
New York
(April 18, 2007) – Before the opening day of the
HITS Saugerties Show Series on May 30, the gates
at HITS-on-the-Hudson will open early...three weeks
early in fact, to welcome a different type of horse
show crowd, the Quarter Horse crowd.
Starting on Thursday,
May 3, and continuing for four days, HITS will
host the first ever HITS Saugerties Quarter Horse
Show. Formerly held in Horseheads, New York at
the Chemung County Fairgrounds under the management
of Linda Connors, the show was known to most as
the English Ridden QH Group "Klassic"
Show. The 2007 HITS Saugerties version is expected
to attract a large exhibitor base because of its
ample facility and central location in the North
East. The HITS-on-the-Hudson facility in Saugerties
is celebrating its fourth year of operation. The
200-acre facility is set amidst the beautiful
and historic Catskill Mountains and is less than
five miles from the New York State Thruway. The
property features 10 permanent all-weather rings,
a permanent VIP pavilion that overlooks two main
rings and stabling for over 2,000 horses (1,100
of which are set within 14 permanent barns).
HITS has been evaluating
the step into the Quarter Horse side of the industry
and will be putting its team to the test with
this first show. "Once it was confirmed that
a site change for the Klassic was a go, we reached
out to Tom Struzzieri," said Connors. "He
had expressed an interest a while back and we
thought it would be a great match with the operational
experience of the HITS team and central location
of the HITS facility in Saugerties, New York."
"Hosting this
show will be our initial step into the Quarter
Horse Show industry," said Tom Struzzieri,
President and CEO of HITS. "As with any show
we produce, we will take every opportunity to
make this a successful event, in all aspects.
We very much want to ensure that loyal customers
who have been coming to this show for years are
satisfied with our efforts and continue to participate."
Ann Roberts has been
hired to manage the show and Maureen Miller will
be the primary show secretary. With a veteran
team of management on board, as well as HITS'
experienced team of horse show personnel, HITS
is leaving no stone unturned to ensure a positive
showing experience for all.
The HITS Saugerties
Quarter Horse show will offer a special event
on Thursday, May 3, consisting of 25 classes,
some being New York State Horse Council classes.
Friday will feature 100 classes and on Saturday
and Sunday, the show schedule will follow a split/combined
format.
Prize lists are available
by request and are posted on the HITS website
at www.HitsShows.com
. The Initial closing date of the entries
is April 20, 2007; however, entries will still
