| SAUGERTIES , NY (August 16, 2007)--HITS and River Rock Health Spa extend a special invitation to all senior citizens on Saturday, September 8, when the annual Seniors Day celebration returns to HITS' state-of-the-art equestrian facility, in Saugerties , New York .
On Saturday, September 8 from noon to 2 pm, seniors will be guests of HITS-on-the-Hudson and will be admitted free. In addition to a full day of equestrian competition, Seniors Day will feature booths with information and activities geared toward health, well-being and entertainment. Shaded VIP seating overlooking the Grand Prix stadium will be available. Highlighting Seniors Day will be free chair massages courtesy of River Rock Health Spa, in Woodstock , New York .
"Seniors are our favorite people in the community," said owner of River Rock Health Spa, Babs Molloy. "We are thrilled to come out and give them a special treat on their day at the horse show."
The HITS equestrian facility is nestled at the foothills of the Catskill Mountains, just one mile outside the village of Saugerties . The facility offers an on-site food service pavilion, an ice cream parlor featuring an assortment of frozen delights and Starbucks® coffee. The HITS Bar and Grill serves up pizza and cold beer in a spacious air-conditioned lounge. Spectators can grab some lunch and find a grassy spot on the berms while watching some of the world's best show jumping with the entire family right here in the Hudson Valley.
"Seniors Day offers the perfect opportunity for seniors to bring their grandchildren to the horse show," said HITS' Senior Vice President Tony Hitchcock. "Children 12 and under are also admitted free so it is an inexpensive way to spend the afternoon."
Those interested in seeing what takes place behind the scenes of show jumping can watch the horse show farrier put new shoes on a horse and even tour the stables to see some of the horses and riders up close. Admission on the weekends is $5 for adults, which is donated to Family of Woodstock, Inc. Children 12 and under are admitted free. Parking for spectators is located at Gate E, which is directly across from the Kiwanis Ice Rink and is always free.
