Tavern on the Green set to cater the Marshall & Sterling League Finals Party on September 14 at HITS Saugerties

SAUGERTIES, NY (July 5, 2007) — Tavern on the Green, one of the most famous restaurants in New York City, will cater the Marshall & Sterling League Finals Party on Friday, September 14 at HITS Saugerties for the second consecutive year. The world-class equestrian facility at HITS Saugerties will be the stage for the 2007 Marshall & Sterling League Finals on September 13-16.

All league qualifiers and their guests are invited to enjoy a sumptuous menu prepared by Tavern on the Green Catering. At last years party, Tavern on the Green Catering dazzled guests with a menu that included hot hors d'oeuvres, cold canapés, a farmers market table, Mediterranean and Asian buffet stations and fabulous desserts. After dinner and an awards ceremony honoring some of the seasons top competitors, guests will get a chance to kick back and enjoy a special performance by Suzanne Vega. The Eighties' alternative rocker, whose career spans three decades, had her brush with mainstream when "Luka," a song from her second album, won her international fame in 1987. The song rose to number three on the charts and was nominated for three GRAMMYS® . Vega is known for her highly literate lyrics and eclectic, folk-inspired music. Beauty and Crime, Vega's seventh studio album, is set to be released this month.

During the year, riders from coast to coast compete at more than 700 Marshall & Sterling League member horse shows to earn points for a place at the Finals. Since its inception in 1991, the Marshall & Sterling League Finals have provided the goal that has fueled the competitive spirit of child and adult riders at all levels of competition.

Following dinner, the Essex Classics Year-End High Point Awards will be given to the top-10 riders in each division based on national point standings. Award recipients represent the most dedicated and determined Marshall & Sterling League members and the night pays honor to their achievements.

The action resumes at HITS Saugerties on July 25 for three weeks of world-class show jumping. The "Are you a Champion?" equestrian series returns for an encore to close the third and final week of the summer series of shows on August 8-12. Participants will have an opportunity to strut their stuff in HITS' Grand Prix Amphitheater, the largest ring on the property, with the Catskill Mountains as their backdrop. The summer series concludes with one final week of show jumping beginning on September 5, followed by the Marshall & Sterling League Finals, September 13-16.
