SAUGERTIES, NY (July 12, 2007) HITS, Inc. is pleased to announce the creation of two new Judges Advisory Committees that will assist HITS in the selection of the hunter judges for the 2008 show season.
The two Committees, comprised of seasoned exhibitors from both the East Coast and West Coast, were invited to review a comprehensive list of available judges and report back to HITS with their evaluations, comments and suggestions for additional names not already featured on the list of approximately 160 hunter judges. Responses are due by August 1, 2007.
We are glad to involve our active riders and trainers in this process, said Tom Struzzieri, HITS President and CEO. The thoughtful selection of hunter judges has always been an important part of our preparations for the show season. Our hope is that by working together we can ensure that the selections and rotation represent the Committee's direction.
The list was very thorough and complete, said trainer Susan Schoellkopf, who spends the winter at HITS Ocala. In fact, I didn't add one name to the list.
According to Struzzieri, HITS will collect the responses from the two Committees and review all the feedback. The learnings will then be used to prioritize selections and provide guidance for ring assignments at the two upcoming winter circuits in Ocala, Florida and Thermal, California. As always, availability of judges will also play a part in the hiring process.
We are committed to having the best judges at our shows, said Struzzieri. During the winter we hire more than 60 hunter judges each for Thermal and Ocala. It's not always easy to please everyone, but with this combined effort it should be more collaborative.
The 2008 HITS show season begins on January 22 in Thermal, California and January 23 in Ocala, Florida.
