SAUGERTIES, NY (June 19, 2007) — HITS is pleased to announce that the Rip Van Winkle Country Club will host the first annual HITS Saugerties golf tournament for HITS exhibitors.
The Golf Tournament will take place on Monday, July 30, with an 8 am shotgun start and is limited to 18 teams. The tournament package includes 18 holes of golf, a golf cart and lunch on the course. The tournament fee is $40 per person or $160 per foursome. The winning team will be the first recipient of the HITS Perpetual Trophy. Prizes will also be awarded for the longest drive and closest to the pin.
The 9-hole "Rip Van Winkle" course at the Rip Van Winkle Country Club facility in Palenville, New York features 3,110 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 36. The course rating is 68.5 and it has a slope rating of 126 on Rye grass. Designed by Donald J. Ross, ASGCA, the Rip Van Winkle golf course opened in 1917. HITS Saugerties now takes a five-week hiatus before returning on July 25 for three more weeks of world-class show jumping. The "Are you a Champion?" equestrian series returns for an encore to close the third and final week of the summer series of shows on August 8-12. Participants will have an opportunity to strut their stuff in HITS' Grand Prix Amphitheater, the largest ring on the property, with the Catskill Mountains as their backdrop. The summer series concludes with one final week of show jumping beginning on September 5, followed by the Marshall & Sterling League Finals, September 13-16 when acclaimed singer/songwriter Suzanne Vega will be performing for the Year-End High Point Awards Celebration.
