SAUGERTIES, NY (September 18, 2007)—Marshall & Sterling League Finalists and their guests had a night to remember when one of the most famous restaurants in New York City, Tavern on the Green, brought a piece of the City to HITS Saugerties for the Marshall & Sterling League Finals Party on Friday, September 14.
Festivities began at 6 pm with a fabulous dinner that included a hot and cold buffet, passed
hors d'oeuvres
and an open bar lasting the duration of the evening. The Essex Classics Year-End High Point Awards followed dinner. The awards were presented to the Top-10 riders in each division based on the Marshall & Sterling National Point Standings.
Almost all the exhibitors who were in the Top-10 were in attendance to receive their awards. Those children and adults who won awards were thrilled about the fancy ribbons, jackets and framed certificates that they were awarded. After the awards were handed out, all of the exhibitors were able to have their picture taken in a special photo area.
At the conclusion of the awards ceremony guests kicked back and enjoyed a special performance by GRAMMY®-nominated singer/songwriter Suzanne Vega. Vega started off the evening with a song from her new record, Beauty and Crime. Mixed in were several favorites from her earlier albums Solitude Standing and
99.9 F°.
"This was our best-ever party in Saugerties," said HITS Senior Vice President Tony Hitchcock. "With about 800 dinner guests on hand to enjoy the fabulous food from Tavern on the Green Catering and the Suzanne Vega concert that followed, who could ask for anything more!"
Other special events at the Marshall & Sterling League Finals included an Ice Skating Party on Thursday night that featured almost 100 skaters, an Ice Cream Social on Saturday afternoon and live music during lunch on Saturday and Sunday at the HITS Restaurant.
The 2007 Marshall & Sterling League Finals included more than $30,000 in prize money, perpetual trophies and awards. For a complete list of results, please visit http://www.hitsshows.com/marshallsterling/results07.html
