New York's Christina Fried captures the $7,500 Adult Jumper Classic at the Marshall & Sterling League Finals

SAUGERTIES, NY (September 19, 2007)—Christina Fried of New York, New York and her mount Lady Grey jumped their way to victory on Friday, September 14, during the Marshall & Sterling League Finals when they secured the fastest double clear round en route to capturing the $7,500 Adult Jumper Classic at HITS-on-the-Hudson.

Course Designer Jerry Dougherty trimmed the field from 20 competitors down to just four in the jump-off. Fried was first to go in the jump-off and stopped the clocks in 40.77 to secure $2,250 in prize money. Lady Grey is owned by Fried and is a 13-year-old Dutch Warmblood and the Marshall & Sterling League Finals was only the third time Fried showed her. However, the horse is hardly a stranger to success in the show ring, as Fried rode Lady Grey to the Adult Jumper Championship at the 2007 Hampton Classic earlier this summer.

Second to go in the jump-off was Maureen Allen (Lake Mary, FL) aboard Morena. The combination had one rail down and three time faults for a total of seven faults. When the round was over, they finished in third place and collected $1,125 in prize money for owner Nina Small.

Heather Acker (Yaphank, NY) and her mount Chantel were next to go in the jump-off but withdrew midway through the course and finished in fourth place.

Sitting in the envious last-to-ride position were Rebecca Forbes (Stuarts Draft, VA) and Kick the Clouds. They made it all the way home clean but their time of 46.36 was well off the pace set by Fried as they settled for second place.

Earlier in the week, Fried just missed winning the $2,500 Adult Jumper Classic on her other mount Felix Ves Vents. The combination secured second place and $550 in prize money in the class held on Thursday, September 13.

Fried was edged out in that class by Katherine Edgell (Mendham, NJ) and her mount Miss Kitty, who had the fastest double-clear effort. The combination got the best of 22 pairs to grab the blue ribbon and $750 in prize money. Forbes and Kick the Clouds were third in the $2,500 Adult Jumper Classic to round out the top-three finishers.

On Saturday, September 15, Brandee Beattie (Yorba Linda, CA ) rode her mount Espri to capture the blue ribbon in the $7,500 Children's Jumper Classic. The pair outlasted 33 other competitors to find their way to the festive Marshall & Sterling League Finals awards area for the win shot.

Beattie and Espri started their successful week with a fourth-place finish in the $2,500 Children's Jumper Classic held on Friday. First place in that class was awarded to Hannah Seibel and Sky Dancer who edged out a field of 37 riders.

The 2007 Marshall & Sterling League Finals included more than $30,000 in prize money, perpetual trophies and awards. For a complete list of results, please visit http://www.hitsshows.com/marshallsterling/results07.html
