Saugerties, NY
(September 19, 2006)—The
2006 Marshall & Sterling League Finals concluded
on Sunday after four days of exciting competition
in the HITS Saugerties Grand Prix Stadium with
Jenny Fischer being named the Grand Hunter Champion
for the horse show aboard her mount Concerto.
Fischer rode Concerto
to a victory in the Adequan Open Hunter Division
for Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Caristo of Saugerties,
New York. "Jenny has been riding with us
forever," said Ralph Caristo. "We are
thrilled with her performance at the Marshall
& Sterling League Finals. She rode a great
horse and they formed an excellent team. Jenny
has a near-perfect style of riding."
The Caristo's, who
have been HITS customers for years have recently
purchased a 26-acre property on Peoples Road in
Saugerties, New York just minutes from the HITS
Saugerties show grounds where they own and operate
Glen View Stables. "Ralph and Holly (Caristo)
are fabulous to ride for," said Fischer.
"Concerto and I had a wonderful season
riding together and winning Grand Champion at
such a big event was icing on the cake."
Fischer, who is from
Montgomery, New York competed at HITS Saugerties
most of the spring and summer. Jamie Ringel and
Private Ryan used a victory in the Farnam
Adult Hunter Division to earn a tie for the Reserve
Grand Hunter Champion with Lila Abboud and Somersby.
Abboud was named the Champion of the Children's
Hunter Horse Division aboard Somersby.
In the Children's Hunter Pony Division Elizabeth
Benson was named the Champion aboard Shoot
the Moon.

Jenny Fischer was named the Grand Hunter Champion
at The Marshall &Sterling League Finals aboard
Concerto.

Lila Abboud earned a tie for the Reserve Grand
Hunter Champion aboard Somersby. The horse/rider
combination captured the Children's Hunter Horse
Division.

Other Awards at
the Marshall & Sterling League Finals
Best Junior Rider
on a Horse-Katie Price from New Canaan, Connecticut
was named the Best Junior Rider on a Horse aboard
Black Tie Only. The 16-year-old was fourth
in the FWPHA Maclay Finals this year. Black
Tie Only is a nine-year-old Oldenburg owned
by Price.
Best Junior Rider
on a Pony-Lindsey Johnson from Manchester,
Connecticut was named the best Junior Rider on
a Pony aboard Corhill Andate. Johnson
is 16 and enjoys volleyball, softball, skiing
and playing the piano. Corhill Andate is
a 12-year-old Welsh Cross owned by Arman and Martha
Chenelle.
In 2006, riders accumulated
points at more than 700 member horse shows throughout
the year to qualify for a place at the Finals.
With its grass berms, stonewalls and pedestrian
bridges the HITS Saugerties facility provided
a dramatic backdrop that added to the prestige
of the Finals.
HITS concludes its
season when show jumping resumes at HITS Culpeper
for the USGPL Finals on September 27. HITS features
the $10,000 Pre-Green Hunter Classic, the $15,000
Junior/A-O Jumper Low Classic , the $25,000 Junior/A-O
Jumper High Classic, the $25,000 Wild Card Grand
Prix and the $100,000 USGPL Invitational Grand
Prix in its final week in Culpeper. The USGPL
Finals will be the last HITS Horse Show before
HITS begins installation of new footing supplied
by Footing
Authority. Footing Authority has developed
a revolutionary dust-free footing that will allow
horses to compete with virtually no risk of injury.
