the
fabulous artwork set against the backdrop of a
first-class horse show, right in the heart of
the Hudson Valley. Shop for an equine masterpiece

artists.
The exhibit will
put on show paintings, photography, and sculptures
by celebrated artists who are experts in their
chosen fields. Artists participating in the exhibit
will include: Nina Akamu, John Beilman, Rauld
Bradstock, Brenda Bates Clark, Robert Gauntt,
Jean Haines, Juliet Harrison, Pat Kelly, Gail
Maslyk, Rodney Skidmore, and Catherine Windley.
HITS is proud to
feature a beautiful work of art by Skidmore, this
year's cover artist for HITS Saugerties' official
show program and poster. Skidmore's paintings
capture the true essence of the sport of polo
in scenes from play that put the viewer right
in the midst of the game. The original watercolor
painting entitled " Airborne "
was
created especially for HITS to celebrate the opening
of the 2006 season at HITS Saugerties. Skidmore's
striking painting is certain to be collector's
item and is available for purchase at the horse
show. Skidmore has executed a signed and numbered
series of 100 posters that can be obtained for
$100 with 75 percent of the proceeds going directly
to Family of Woodstock. Unsigned posters are $20.
Posters are available at the HITS souvenir stand
near the Grand Prix Ring in-gate. For more information
on how to obtain one of Skidmore's posters by
mail, contact HITS' Art Director Leslie Phillips
at 845.246.5515 or e-mail her at Leslie@HitsShows.com.
"I have been told
by professional polo players that I accurately
paint the game of polo. I suppose that comes from
the fact that I did play a little, and I understand
the interaction between horse and rider and positioning
of
players," said Skidmore.
For the past two
years, Skidmore has studied and painted jumpers
and is now enjoying the creative flow that comes
from the exploration of a new subject. The same
attention to detail he displays when painting
polo scenes is also evident when he depicts the
sport of show jumping.
For one admission
fee you can enjoy the whole experience of art
and subject at a thrilling sporting event. Admission
to the Equine Art Exhibit and the Horse Show is
just $5 for adults, children 12 and under are
free. All admission proceeds go directly to Family
of Woodstock and artists will donate 10 percent
of their sales
to HITS' official charity, as well.
