Adrienne Iverson Wins Her Second $5,000 Devoucoux Hunter Prix at HITS Ocala

Ocala, FL (March 4, 2014) – Adrienne Iverson of Califon, New Jersey and Huehuetenango topped a competitive field of 41 to win the $5,000 Devoucoux Hunter Prix in the new Ocala Horse Properties Stadium.

Adrienne and the beautiful, seven-year-old Dutch Warmblood mare owned by Lavanta Coffee Roasters,  Huehuetenago is lovingly referred to in the barn as ‘Typica’, bested the field with scores of 87 and 89 to take  home the blue ribbon. “We have only been paired a couple of months as she was recently imported, but this is our second time showing and our second win this circuit,” said Iverson. “The course rode really well. The  unrelated distances allowed the opportunity to show off the movement and style of each individual horse. It suited us because my horse is a very fluid mover, and even with limited showing seems to be well-received by the judges.”

After their second win together, Iverson is well on her way to being a top contender in the Diamond Mills $500,000 Hunter Prix Final held during the HITS Championship at HITS-on-the-Hudson in Saugerties, New York this September.

Taking the red ribbon was Caramo with rider and trainer Harold Chopping of Southern Pines, North Carolina for owner Caroline Russell Howe with a pair of 86.5s. Third place was awarded to Kenya and Caitlyn Shiels of Wellington, Florida for owner Michelle Durpetti with two 86s.

Jennifer Bliss of Katonah, New York was fourth in the irons of Extraordinary for owner Harris Hill Farm, LLC after an 85 and 84. Megan Wexler and Kathryn Mittauer’s Allawishus jumped to scores of 83.5 and 85 to cap the top five.

Devoucoux Hunter competition continues throughout the duration of the HITS Ocala Circuit as the race to qualify for the Diamond Mills Hunter Prix Final continues.
