Hunters in the spotlight in Week VI of HITS Ocala Winter Circuit featuring the $100,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby

Ocala, FL (January 20, 2016):HITS, Inc. is pleased to offer center stage to hunter exhibitors during Week VI of the HITS Ocala Winter Circuit. The biggest hunter week of the year will feature a plethora of exclusive events: the $100,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby, the World Championship Hunter Rider Week and the debut of the United States Hunter Jumper Association (USHJA) Zone 4 Handy Hunter Classic to the Ocala Masters (Week VI).

"After Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup™ week, HITS' concentration shifts in Week VI to serve the top, hunter clientele in the world," said HITS President and CEO Tom Struzzieri.

The exciting Handy Hunter Classic features two classes—the Zone IV Pony Handy Hunter Classic and the Zone IV Junior/Amateur 3’6” Handy Hunter Classic—which will take place during the Ocala Masters on February 23-28 at HITS Post Time Farm in Ocala, Florida.

The USHJA Zone 4 Hunter Committee created the Handy Hunter Classic program in 2014 to test skills that riders and their horses might use during a day of foxhunting combined with elements of flat and over-fences classes. To participate, the rider and owner of the horse or pony must have the USHJA Zone 4 as their home zone of record and be eligible to compete under Zone 4 Specifications and be in good standing with USEF and USHJA; horses must be registered with the USHJA. “Our integral mission at HITS is to foster the next generation of equestrians, as well as provide classes for riders of all levels,” said HITS President and CEO Thomas Struzzieri. “We are very enthusiastic about hosting these elite hunter classes that allow big opportunities for HITS exhibitors.”

There is no entry or nomination fee to compete in the Handy Hunter Classic, and all ribbon winners will be qualified to compete in the Handy Hunter Finals at the Zone 4 Horse of the Year Finals in Conyers, Georgia, or Tampa, Florida.
