WHAT IS THE MARSHALL & STERLING LEAGUE?
The Marshall & Sterling League was first designed to encourage and enhance the competition level of Children's and Adult riders by providing the opportunity to qualify for a prestigious National Finals competition. For over a decade, the Marshall & Sterling League has stayed at the forefront of hunter/jumper competition, having grown from 10 member shows and approximately 100 riders in 1991, to over 800 horse shows and more than 2,500 riders today.

WHAT IS CHANGING FOR 2008?
The League continues to focus on the four divisions that started the League: Children's Hunters, Children's Jumpers, Adult Hunters and Adult Jumpers. In addition to the four core divisions, the League will showcase the very successful M&S Children's Medal, M&S Adult Medal and Central Equine Junior Medal. Add to these the Adequan Hunter, a division introduced by the League in 2004, and you have a core of eight divisions that will be the featured events at this year's Finals.

WHAT IS THE QUALIFYING PERIOD FOR THE FINALS?
The qualifying period for 2008 is September 3, 2007 - September 2, 2008.

HOW DO EXHIBITORS QUALIFY FOR THE FINALS?
Hunters and Jumpers: Horses will qualify based on points earned in their division during the qualifying period. A horse's points will be recorded only if the rider of record is a current League member. A horse may accrue points in any division for which it is eligible, and may accrue points in multiple divisions, with multiple riders, provided the rider of record is a current League member.

Equitation: Points follow the rider. Riders must be members in order for their points to count.

Grand Prix: Money won will be calculated based on the horse-rider combination. When determining the top 30 who are qualified for the USGPL Invitational, only a rider's highest placed horse will be considered. However, the rider need not ride the same horse in the USGPL Invitational. Riders must be members of the Marshall & Sterling League in order to be included in the Marshall & Sterling League standings.

  HOW ARE POINTS CALCULATED?
Points are awarded to the horse, provided the rider is a League member. Points will be awarded to sixth place in each division in the same manner as Hunter Championships (i.e.; 10, 6, 4, 2, 1, ½). Points will be awarded on this scale regardless of the number of entries in the class. Points will be awarded according to the ribbon won. Bonus Points will be awarded to the Champion (10 pts.) and Reserve Champion (6 pts.) in each Hunter division. Only horses shown by Member Riders will have their points recorded.

DO ALL EXHIBITORS NEED TO BECOME MEMBERS OF THE LEAGUE?
Riders must be members of the Marshall & Sterling League in order for points to count. Points will not be retroactive.
