WHAT IS THE MARSHALL & STERLING LEAGUE?
The Marshall & Sterling League was first designed to encourage and enhance the competition level of Children's and Adult riders by providing the opportunity to qualify for a prestigious National Finals competition. For over two decades, the Marshall & Sterling League has stayed at the forefront of hunter/jumper competition, having grown from 10 member shows and approximately 100 riders in 1991, to over 1,300 horse shows and more than 2,300 riders today. |

WHAT IS CHANGING FOR 2012?
The League continues to focus on the four divisions that started the League: Children's Hunters, Children's Jumpers, Adult Hunters and Adult Jumpers. In addition the League will again sanction the Low Junior/Amateur Jumpers, which were new for 2011. We also showcase the very successful M&S Children's Medals, M&S Adult Medal and M&S Junior Medal. Add to these the Adequan Hunter, the Bit O' Straw Hunter, and the HITS Hunter and you have a core of 13 divisions that will be the featured events at this year's Finals. |

HOW DO EXHIBITORS QUALIFY FOR THE FINALS?
Hunters and Jumpers: Horses will qualify based on points earned in their division during the qualifying period. A horse's points will be recorded only if the rider of record is a current League member. A horse may accrue points in any division for which it is eligible, and may accrue points in multiple divisions, with multiple riders, provided the rider of record is a current League member.
Equitation: Points follow the rider. Riders must be members in order for their points to count.
|
|
| |
HOW ARE POINTS CALCULATED?
Points are awarded to the horse, provided the rider is a League member. Points will be awarded to sixth place in each division in the same manner as Hunter Championships (i.e.; 10, 6, 4, 2, 1, ½). Points will be awarded on this scale regardless of the number of entries in the class. Points will be awarded according to the ribbon won. Bonus Points will be awarded to the Champion (10 pts.) and Reserve Champion (6 pts.) in each Hunter division (With the exception of the Bit O' Straw Hunters). Only horses shown by Member Riders will have their points recorded. |
|
| |
WHEN WILL MY POINTS BE POSTED?
Shows have three weeks to report results to the League office. Shows failing to do so, will be considered cancelled as per their agreement with the M&S League and points will not be awarded. As a member, it is important for you to check the "Status of Show Results" to see if the shows you attended have sent their results. It is your responsibility to contact the show when their status of results is listed as "Not Received" and they are nearing their three-week deadline.

|
| |
DO ALL EXHIBITORS NEED TO BECOME MEMBERS OF THE LEAGUE?
Riders must be members of the Marshall & Sterling League in order for points to count. Memberships will be backdated 10 days from the day they are received. Points will not be retroactive. |
