Celebrating the Best of the Marshall & Sterling Insurance League

Congratulations to the Champions of the 2021 Marshall & Sterling Insurance League National Finals! Hundreds of Marshall & Sterling Insurance League members put on phenomenal performances as they vied for their spot in the winner's circle this year. During this fantastic week of competition at HITS-on-the-Hudson in Saugerties, New York, Champions were crowned in 25 divisions, along with the Grand Hunter Championship and Best Rider awards.
 
HITS Hunter 2’6” – Professional
The week kicked-off with Shelby Cashman taking home the Champion title aboard STERLING MOON in the HITS Working Hunter 2’6” Professional division on the strength of two over fences class wins. Reserve Champion, with two fourths over fences and a win in the under saddle, was Cara Cheska and FLOWER DANCE.
 
 
HITS Hunter 2’6” – Non-Professional
Jordan Scelsa and ROYAL CHANEL earned the tri-color Champion ribbon in the HITS Working Hunter 2’6” Non-Professional division by earning 14 points. Amanda Zwaan piloted BROOKLYN and Kaitlyn Linck rode REVITA BELU to a tie for Reserve Champion with 10 points each.

 

HITS Hunter 2’

With two class wins and a third place, Aurelia Lee and NATALIE earned the Champion award in the HITS Working Hunter 2’ division. Reserve Champion was awarded to Charlotte McAndrew and TI AMO with one class win.

 
Movex Hunter
In the Movex Working Hunter division, Justine Powers Jarvis and FIRST FROST put in a dominating performance to win all three classes for 30 points and the Champion title. With two seconds and a third, totaling 16 points, it was Sophie Schaeffner and FLEUR DE LIS who took home Reserve Champion.
 
SmartPak Adult Working Hunter
Wynatte Chu and CONTADOR (pictured below left) would tie for Champion with Laura Van Rooyen and BIARRITZ (pictured below right) in the SmartPak Adult Working Hunter division, each with 12 points over fences. The Reserve Champion was awarded to Zwaan and BROOKLYN with 10 points.

 

 

 
Children's Working Hunter - 14 & Under
Out of a competitive field of Children’s Hunter Horses with riders 14 & under, it was Ryley Kurau and RABLO who bested the field with a total of 26 points to take the Champion title. Lindsay Sweedenburg and FIRENZE were awarded the Reserve Champion title as they earned 10.5 points.

 

Children's Working Hunter - 15-17

In the Children’s Hunter Horse, with riders age 15-17, Brianna Izzi and WBF QUARTILAZ claimed the Champion award by winning both over fences classes. Jordyn Scelsa and ROYAL CHANEL took the Reserve Champion title with two second-place finishes and one third. 
 

Children’s Working Hunter Pony – Small
Greta Holmes and TREVATHAN MISTY NOE and Ella Falco and SLUMBER PARTY each scored a total of 14 points in the division. Holmes earned the title of Champion by virtue of earning more points in the over fences classes. Falco was named Reserve Champion.
 
Children’s Working Hunter Pony – Medium
Entering to the Winner's Circle was Chloe Cairns aboard HIGHLANDS HEAVEN SENT, taking home the Champion title in the Children’s Hunter Medium Pony with 16 points. Reserve Champion was awarded to Addison Litman and WOODLANDS CORDUROY.

 

Children's Working Hunter Pony - Large

Winning the Champion title in the Children’s Hunter Large Pony was Isabella Agresta and STANMORE'S NEW HOPE with one class win and 10.5 points. The Reserve Champion sash was awarded to Riley Conigliaro and MOTOWN with one class win and 10 points.

 

Bit O’ Straw Hunter Classic
Out of a field of 81 competitors, Kenzie Smith and ESCAPADE (pictured below) secured top honors in the Bit O’ Straw Hunter Classic. Smith scored a 90 in the first round and followed that up with a 79 for a two round total of 169.

  • 2nd Place: Jordyn Goldmisth & REMASTERED [165.5]
  • 3rd Place: Sophia McIntyre & CASSIOPEIA [161]

 

 

Novice Children’s Hunter Classic
Valentina Wu and TWILIGHT EDITION took home the blue ribbon in the Novice Children’s Hunter Classic with a score of 88.
  • 2nd Place: Jordyn Goldsmith & REMASTERED [86]
  • 3rd Place: Caitlyn Saddlemire & BOSTONIAN [81.5]

 

Novice Adult Hunter Classic
First place in the Novice Adult Hunter Classic was awarded to Missy Palmisciano & ARCONDO with a score of 84.
  • 2nd Place: Katherine Pearse & BOSTONIAN [83]
  • 3rd Place: Suzanne Paolucci & COLOR ME HONEY [82]

 

$3,500 Children’s Jumper Classic
Hannah Politsky and DIEGO (pictured below left) bested the field in the $3,500 Children's Jumper Classic, with a fault-free jump-off time of 42.560. 
  • 2nd Place: Olivia Kocher & TOP SHELF [4-faults, 35.761]
  • 3rd Place: India Nye-Werner & CANTANO [4-faults, 85.141]

 

$3,500 Adult Jumper Classic
Winning the $3,500 Adult Jumper Classic was Emily Throop and CAPITALIST (pictured below right). Going double-clear, the pair posted a jump-off time of 35.360. 
  • 2nd Place: Charlotte Powers & ESCOT 6 [37.182]
  • 3rd Place: Rose Kane & CENTO BOY [42.468]

 

 

 

$3,500 Low Children’s/Adult Jumper Classic
Top honors in the $3,500 Low Children's and Adult Jumper Classic went to Gianna Gitterman and CANTUCCINI D for their fault-free jump-off in 34.352.
  • 2nd Place: Alyssa Bauer & HJ SOBERANO [34.530]
  • 3rd Place: Kathryn Dotterweich & CHAMPAGNE Z [37.994]

$3,500 Modified Children's/Adult Jumper Classic
Aiden Brancaccio and BONITHA won the $3,500 Modified Children's and Adult Jumper Classic by crossing the timers in 35.818.
  • 2nd Place: Devon Owen & EZ TO SPOT [37.646]
  • 3rd Place: Abigail Davis & BOEMERANG VAN GENERHESE [38.188]
 
M&S 2’6” Adult Medal Final
Erica Sparks joined the Winner's Circle with her score of 83 over fences in the Marshall & Sterling 2'6" Adult Medal Final.
  • 2nd Place: Celia Sutherland
  • 3rd Place: Paige Klinger

M&S 2’6” Children’s Medal Final
With matching scores of 85 for a total of 170 in the Marshall & Sterling 2'6" Children's Medal Final, it was Allison Gillman who took the victory.
  • 2nd Place: Ruby Calger
  • 3rd Place: Kate Cianfaglione

Dover Saddlery Adult Medal Final
After two over fences phases with scores of 81 and 86 for a total of 167, Natalie Tezsla was crowned the winner in the Dover Saddlery Adult Medal Final.

  • 3rd Place: Alison Inggs [164]

 

M&S Children’s Small/Medium Pony Medal Final
Scores of 86 and 85 totaling a 171 secured the blue ribbon for Meera Mudgil in the Marshall & Sterling Children's Small/Medium Pony Medal Final.
  • 2nd Place: Addison Litman [164.5]
  • 3rd Place: Samantha Teller [162.5]

 

M&S Children’s Large Pony Medal Final
Kaitlyn Linck had a score of 77.5 in the first round of the Marshall & Sterling Children's Large Pony Medal Final but returned to score an impressive 86 for a cumulative score of 163.5 for the win.

  • 3rd Place: Isabella Agresta [162]

 

Pyranha Children’s Medal Final
A competitive field of riders were welcomed to the Grand Prix Stadium for the Pyranha Children's Medal Final. Scoring an 88 in each round for a total of 176 and first place was Jordyn Scelsa.
  • 2nd Place: Katelyn Vandenburg [172]
  • 3rd Place: Maci Iddings [167.5]

 

M&S Junior Medal Final
Jaclyn Crea won the Marshall & Sterling Junior Medal Final with a score of 79 in the first round and 86 in the second round for a 165, landing her at the top of the standings.

3rd Place: Rebecca Kaplan [155]
 M&S Junior/Amateur Horsemanship Final
In the Marshall & Sterling Junior/Amateur Horsemanship Medal, the top twelve riders are called back for a flat phase. Taking home top honors was Maci Iddings, scoring an 87 over fences and maintaining the top spot with her strong flat work.

Upon the conclusion of competition on Friday, riders were recognized at the Year-End Top Ten Awards banquet at Diamond Mills Hotel and Tavern. Marshall & Sterling League Finals riders, nationally ranked riders in the Top Ten, trainers, and family members were invited to dinner and a reception to honor the award winners.
