Coachella Valley is a string of desert towns all connected by Highway 111. Each town has its own unique charm but Palm Springs is the largest, most popular town in the Coachella Valley. Palm Springs has been predominantly thought of as a retirement location but within the past few years, it has become more chic and hip. Palm Springs is only about 35 minutes away from HITS Desert Horse Park and is a great place to visit on a day you aren’t showing!

Another popular town in Coachella Valley is Palm Desert. Palm Desert is another hip town with plenty to do. One main attraction in Palm Desert is The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens. The Zoo gives you the opportunity to get up-close to animals from around the world. Palm Desert’s official website also has an awesome list of events and things to do!

There are a number of trendy hotels located throughout the Palm Springs valley overlooking the springs. Not only are the Hot Springs overlooked by hotels and private homes but also by spas and retreats. In fact, the Hot Spring area is known to be called “Spa City” So named because spas are built above the hot springs and used for relaxation and medicinal purposes. Doesn’t this sound like something you would like to check out? I know I sure would!

Another place you must check out while at HITS Coachella is Joshua Tree National Park. The high Mojave Desert and the low Colorado Desert come together in the Joshua Tree National Park creating two distinct ecosystems. The main distinction between these two ecosystems is the drastic difference in elevation. There are a number of different species and surreal geological features that make up the 800,000-acre national park.
